We purchased this vehicle for $900, with a blown head gasket, and we swapped in a 3.4L V6 engine using a conversion package from Off Road Solutions. We believe that this affordable engine-swap is going to breath a whole new life into older Toyota trucks now that enthusiasts can easily install a late-model 190hp 3.4LV6 engine in place of any tired four-cylinder or 3.0L V6. We also published a series of suspension-related articles with Four Wheeler Magazine. We covered the installation of a Total Chaos’ Gen II Caddy Kit online at fourwheeler.com. This coil-over long-travel IFS system cycles 12” of vertical wheel-travel, retaining 4WD (using stock T100 CV shafts).
The rear suspension consists of Tacoma-length Deaver leafsprings, custom shackles, and 12” x 2.5” diameter remote-reservoir RaceRunner shocks mounted under the bed. This setup yields 13” of quality suspension-travel. A perfect match for the front suspension.
